Overview & Responsibilities
The position of CNC Programmer (Methods Engineer) exists to provide technical and administrative direction in the form of meeting all of the Elliott Company's manufacturing needs. This position is also responsible for generating C.N.C. programming, quoting machining cycle times, leads and or participates in fostering manufacturing techniques pertaining to reducing part cost and increasing part quality.
This position is required to interact with all levels of personnel and departments within the company. The most frequent contacts are with the Production Manager Area Manager Central Planning Personnel Machine Tool Suppliers and Tooling Vendors. Outside customer contacts are on an as needed basis. Travel is on an as needed basis. This position functions occasionally in a supervisory position in the event of an absence. This position leads and directs Bargaining Unit Personnel.
Additional responsibilities could include:
The execution of training programs.
Development of new manufacturing process to reduce cost or other waste.
Possibly creating Route Sheets for manufacturing instructions and needs.
8+ years' experience in manufacturing processes including:
At least two years' experience with some form of CAD/CAM programming system.
Experience with Vertical Turning Lathes /VTL, and Vertical/Horizontal Mills.
Familiarity with computer assisted Route Sheet generation a plus.
Vericut, GibbsCam, Hypermill experience preferred.
Additional skills required would include the ability to motivate and administrate Bargaining Personnel and possess good communication skills as well as analytical capabilities and problem solving techniques.
